Gillians Riding School

04/04/13

This week was the first week in the Shetland Grand National racing season. Our race team met at Marks Tey race course on Easter Monday – raising money for the Essex Air Ambulance. The ground was very soft but this didn't stop our new combination of Tommy Frogley and Tinkerbell coming home 1st in the Flat race beating the infamous Tangees Soverin by over a head! It was also a win in the jumping race for Isabella Gayle and Sparky in their Jumping debut! Also in the ribbons was Taylor Merryl and Brigadier and Lucy and Harvey.

Then it was a day of rest for both ponies and riders then off to Bury Farm for the all important race training day. This was a chance to prove to the Judges they had achieved the required level of skill to be able to race in the Olympia the London Horse Show Qualifiers. All our riders passed with flying colors and look like there in for a great season.

Good luck this year! ;o)
